Frosting Fiesta is a bilingual, family-friendly confectionery festival rooted in Hispanic culture that occurs annually in Los Angeles, California during the spring. It celebrates cultural heritage in a contemporary and inclusive atmosphere, seeking to connect Hispanic families and businesses with the community and encourage the fusion and introduction of Hispanic sweets.

The festival is branded with bright and saturated colors inspired from the culture’s vibrant decorations, garments, and patterns. The wordmark incorporates the essence of frosting as each hand-drawn letter is abstractly shaped to resemble a free-flowing blob. This connects literally to the topic of the festival, and it also symbolically portrays that baking is a messy and lively hobby–that’s what makes it fun! The three geometric patterns were created using radial symmetry which reflects the common motif that is found in baking, the circle! This shape is seen in bowls, measuring spoons, and various pastries. The shapes and arrangements used in the pattern are loosly inspired from “papel picado” or perforated paper–elaborately cut pieces of colorful tissue paper strung together to create garlands–a common decoration used at special occasions in Mexican culture.
